I enjoy sharing random stories, facts, or just tidbits of information past down in time about the stones, so today’s bit of knowledge goes as follows: Petrified Wood comes from the Greek root petro, which means rock or stone, literally meaning ‘wood turned into stone’. Long story short Petrified Wood happens when wood over a long period of time turns into stone. The region the tree was laid to rest and the environment all play a major part in the appearance of the stones.
