This stone is one of the oldest recorded stones and the name reflects that being a combination of Latin and Persian.
Lapis Lazuli has been used and celebrated in the Middle East and was even used in the death mask of King Tutankhamen, where it is inlaid with turquoise and carnelian in bright gold.
